Joe Petagno is the artist who created Snaggletooth, the snarling War-Pig face of Motörhead. He did a lot of Motörhead album art over the years.
The man behind Snaggletooth
Petagno drew the War-Pig for Motörhead’s first album in 1977. Lemmy wanted something mean. Petagno gave him a mix of a gorilla, a wolf, and a dog skull with tusks, a helmet, and chains. It became one of the most famous logos in rock.
Snaggletooth showed up on cover after cover. Overkill, Orgasmatron, and plenty more. Every version is a little different, but you always know it is Motörhead.
