How a wolf shirt went viral
The shirt is made by The Mountain, a New Hampshire company known for big, airbrush style animal prints. Three wolves howl at a full moon. That is it.
In late 2008, a joke review claimed the shirt had magical powers. Other people joined in. Soon there were thousands of funny reviews. Sales went through the roof, and it became one of the first big internet meme products.
It even showed up on TV shows and late night comedy. Years later, people still buy it as a joke gift, and some wear it for real.
