In 2006, Finnish monster rockers Lordi won the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens. Latex masks, giant wings, and pyro, at the same contest that launched ABBA. Gwar should tour with these guys.
Hard Rock Hallelujah
Hard Rock Hallelujah won with a record score at the time. It was Finland’s first ever Eurovision win. Fans across Europe could not believe a heavy metal band in monster suits pulled it off.
Lordi vs Gwar
Lordi are monsters with catchy, 80s style hard rock songs. Mr. Lordi built the costumes himself. Gwar are aliens from Richmond, Virginia, who spray fake blood all over the crowd. One band is fun for the whole family. The other is not.
Both bands treat the show as the main event. Costumes, props, and a story on stage. A Lordi and Gwar tour would be the biggest monster party in metal.
