Back in 2010 we had a brand new Death Spiritual Healing t-shirt in X-Large up on eBay, starting at 99 cents. That auction is long over, but the album is still a classic.
About Spiritual Healing
Spiritual Healing came out in 1990. It was Death’s third album. Chuck Schuldiner moved away from the pure gore of Scream Bloody Gore and Leprosy. The lyrics turned to real world topics like drugs, abortion, and TV preachers.
The music got more technical too. James Murphy joined on lead guitar for this one. Terry Butler played bass and Bill Andrews played drums. Songs like Living Monstrosity and Within the Mind show where Death was heading next.
The cover art by Ed Repka is one of the best known in death metal. It shows a tent revival scene that is pure horror.
