Dark Funeral Prepare to Enter Studio

Dark Funeral guitarist Lord Ahriman posted this update on the band’s plans in May 2005.

Monday is the day we’ve all been waiting for! Hell yeah, Monday we will finally enter Dug-Out Studios [in Uppsala, Sweden] with producer Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, Strapping Young Lad, In Flames, Behemoth) to begin the work and recording of our new, yet untitled Satanic symphony. We are scheduled to be located at the dungeons of Dug-Out Studios between May 23 to July 1st.

He also said the band was working hard on the drums and the guitar parts. Some of the new melodies were the fastest he had ever written. Others were slower, darker, and more depressive.

What came out of it

Those sessions became Attera Totus Sanctus, released later in 2005. It is one of the fastest records Dark Funeral has made. Bergstrand gave it a clean, powerful sound without losing the cold black metal feel. Fans still rank it with their best work.

Dark Funeral formed in Stockholm in 1993. Lord Ahriman is the founder and main writer. The band is known for nonstop speed and blasphemous lyrics.
