I guess the rumors are true. Peter Steele died of heart failure in April 2010. He was 48. He will be missed.
I loved going to L’Amour in Brooklyn to see Type O Negative rock out.
Who Peter Steele was
Steele was the 6 foot 7 bassist and singer from Brooklyn. Before Type O Negative he fronted Carnivore, a crossover thrash band with a nasty sense of humor. Fallout came even earlier.
Type O Negative mixed doom, goth, and a little Beatles. Steele’s deep voice was the center of it all. Bloody Kisses in 1993 broke them big with Black No. 1 and Christian Woman. October Rust followed in 1996. Dead Again in 2007 turned out to be the last album.
