Fangoria, America’s horror magazine, put out Blood Drive II in 2005. The DVD was hosted by Mistress Juliya, and the outtakes got almost as much buzz as the films.
Who is Mistress Juliya?
Juliya was best known as a VJ on Fuse TV. She hosted the metal shows Uranium and Slave to the Metal. Metal fans in the 2000s knew her well.
In October 2005 she made a personal appearance at the f.y.e. store on 51st Street in New York City to sign copies of the DVD.
What was Blood Drive?
Blood Drive was Fangoria’s short film contest. Indie horror filmmakers sent in their work, and the best ones made it onto the DVD. It was part film festival, part magazine. Juliya tied it all together with her intros, and the outtakes showed she had a lot of fun doing it.
Fangoria started in 1979 and became the bible of gore and practical effects. A lot of horror fans grew up reading it.
