Why black metal shirts are a staple
Black metal shirts are some of the most recognizable merch in music. Spiky, unreadable logos. Corpse paint photos. Cold, grainy art. Bands like Immortal, Mayhem, Darkthrone and Burzum built a look that people wear even if they never heard the music.
The logos are a big part of it. Many were hand drawn by the bands or their friends. They look like tree roots or bones, and that is the point.
