The Serpentine Offering is the first single from In Sorte Diaboli, released in 2007 on Nuclear Blast. It was a concept album. The story follows a priest’s helper who turns against the church.
In Sorte Diaboli hit number one on the album chart in Norway. That is a big deal for a black metal band. Hellhammer of Mayhem played drums. Shagrath sang, with Silenoz and Galder on guitars.
The song has everything Dimmu is known for. Huge keyboards, orchestra parts, a big chorus, and fast black metal riffs. The video looks like a horror movie set.
