One year after we lost Dimebag Darrell, this was the message left for him by the Ride for Dime crew.
He came to rock… and rocked like no other with twice the size of Texas. Our beloved brother, companion, mentor, idol and friend… we love you Dime… until we meet again.
Remembering Dime
Darrell Abbott, known as Dimebag Darrell, was the guitarist for Pantera. He was killed on December 8, 2004, on stage with his band Damageplan at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. He was 38.
Dime’s playing defined 90s metal. Cowboys From Hell, Vulgar Display of Power, and Far Beyond Driven changed what heavy guitar could sound like. Huge groove, squealing harmonics, and solos with real attitude.
He was also known as one of the nicest guys in metal. Fans tell stories about him hanging out after shows, sharing a drink, and talking guitars with anyone.
He was buried in Texas with one of Eddie Van Halen’s guitars, a gift from Eddie himself.
